Interschool Sports Carnival

A few recounts of our day as written by some of the students who attended Interschool Carnival.

“We needed to meet at school at 7:30 to be on time for the bus. We needed to change into our team shirts so that we could represent the school. Then we took a photo and boarded the Bus. The fun, hot bus ride to Leonora, full of games and chatting, took 1 hour and 30 minutes. When we arrived, we set up our tent and prepared for our events. We started with the 75m and 100m Running events,” said Lexie Butters, runner-up interschool Champion.

“Then we had the 800m high school race, which was a big win for us, with Blake coming first and Mohammed coming second, advised Billy Whiting.

“Sheick, Kiarah, Maisie, and I won our team flag race. Afterwards, we returned to sweaty running events with the 200m and 400m, in which I came third,” said Jaxon James.

Sheick Swaray and Maisie French then went onto say that they “then we moved to the exciting team games again: corner spry, multi-pass ball, and leader ball. We were very competitive in all of these, and we were rewarded with a sausage sizzle lunch.”

“Our last event was the baton relay it was the best event because we could sprint our fastest as a team, and my team got second,” said Keston Spark, champion interschool boy.

“The DJ turned up the speaker and got everyone dancing, including the show’s star Jodi. As the trophies were announced, Leinster took home both trophies, the handicap and the overall making it an absolutely brilliant year for Leinster with many champion boys and girls also announced. The bus ride home was full of victory cheers as everyone took a turn to triumphantly hold the trophies,” said Blake Forrest, High School Champion interschool Boy, and Corey Chard.

Thank you to all the other schools; Mount Margret, Menzies, Laverton, Leonora, and Wiluna, the sponsors of the day band, and all the family members who came to support us.
