Year 3/4 - Room 2 - Excursion with Leinster Community School

On Thursday the 29th of August, Room 2 set off nice and early to Perth for their excursion to The Kids Institute of Australia. We started our day with lots of excitement and anticipation. The only thing that helped take our minds off having to wait was playing games on the plane all together. Once we landed, we made our way to The Kids Institute of Australia where we met a scientist named Caitlin. Caitlin took us to a special room where we learnt about how food can fuel our bodies and used coloured mash potato to create our own food using a 3D printer.

At recess time, we had a chance to play on the playground where we got to spin Miss Garratt around and make her dizzy. Once we were finished, we got the opportunity to have a play in the Discovery Centre where there are lots of interactive games that taught us about the health of our body. Our favourite game was the one where we got to kill the nasty cells in our body. Our high score was 203!

As lunch time was nearing, we met up with Caitlin again and she took us to Level 6 where the labs are located. We had to be as quiet as mice as we walked through some offices to the front of the labs. We saw scientist at work and got to ask lots of questions. The emergency shower that goes 10x faster than a normal shower was really interesting to us but luckily no one has had to use it before!

As we said our goodbyes, we made our way to Kings Park. We were all pretty tired by this stage, but we managed to take a long walk to the Memorial Lookout and play a few games of Red Rover. Then it was time to head back to the airport. We had afternoon tea and an ice cream. We played some more games and went for a walk where we wore Miss Garratt down and she bought us some chips from Hungry Jacks which we loved so much and made us all excited again. Then it was home time. Our cheeks hurt from smiling. What a wonderful day we had!

Thank you to Perry and Eli for helping us on our Journey!
